Hi, I’m Sonia — a 40-year-old writer and entrepreneur from Vizag, India. Chemical Engineer and MBA by education, a diploma in Nutrition and Health Education, and a lifelong food enthusiast. I firmly believe that food nourishes, brings people together and makes life fun!
This blog started 7 years ago as a fat-loss journal. It’s grown into something quite different — a space where I document what it looks like to eat well and train consistently as an Indian woman now in her 40s, without the extremes, the guilt, the loud claims and fearmongering. I’m now here to tell you that home-cooked meals don’t have to be dull or boring – and it doesn’t take long hours of prepping, either.
What you’ll find here: high-protein recipe ideas, easy lunch-fixes, recipes from the regional kitchens I was raised around — Andhra meals built on avakai, tamarind and curry leaf, Maharashtrian flavors I picked up from home, Central Indian staples that we’ve all heard of – but with an intentional, creative, (somewhat) balanced perspective. Salads that look amazing and interesting and you’d actually want to eat. Eggs done in so many different ways, given how versatile they are. Recipes picked from travels and recreated over and over with love. Weeknight dinners that don’t feel like a lot of effort. Weekend indulgences that don’t won’t make you feel guilt-ridden.
There’s also a growing section dedicated to strength training and lifting — specifically for women who are curious but unsure where to start, or who’ve been told that lifting will make them “bulky,” and that cardio is “enough.” I’ve written women’s health, protein, and well-being in my long career as a professional content writer. However, my content is for educational and hopefully inspirational purposes only and not medical advice.
I live with two dogs, two cats, and a serious jigsaw puzzle obsession, some of which you can catch glimpses of on my YouTube channel. I cook most of what I post, my husband and I eat all of it, and I believe firmly that a dal-chawal plate with a side of raita and veggies can be peak nutrition if you do it right.
Happy reading — and if something here makes your next meal even a little more creative or inspires you to lift, I’ll take that win.
